In Eight & Bob’s iconic, eponymous fragrance, a burst of pink pepper and cardamom open to resinous labdanum, sweet woods and fruit over a smooth blend of amber and sandalwood. A scent of classic elegance and quiet confidence, with a remarkable American connection.
From Eight & Bob
Fresh pink pepper and aromatic cardamom dance with bright citrus notes, creating a modern opening that gives way to the heart of the fragrance. Rich labdanum reveals the scent’s historic Parisian heritage with its complex blend of sweet woods and fruit. The composition settles into a sophisticated base of amber and sandalwood, lending a lasting warmth to this distinguished fragrance.
The Story
“In this bottle, you will find the dash of French glamour that your American personality lacks.” – Albert Fouquet to JFK
A legendary fragrance with a fascinating history, Eight & Bob was originally created by Albert Fouquet in the early 1900s. In his private laboratory, Fouquet spent hours dedicating himself to crafting the perfect blend of rare essences. Though his fragrances were coveted within elite social circles, he continually rejected proposals to market them. In 1937, during a chance meeting on the French Riviera, he met a young John F. Kennedy, who was captivated by the fragrance. The next morning, Fouquet left a sample at Kennedy’s hotel with the above note. Kennedy later requested “eight bottles, and one for Bob”giving the perfume its name.
The perfume became a favorite among Hollywood’s elite, including Cary Grant and James Stewart. Following Fouquet’s untimely death in 1939, Philippe, who had served as the family butler and knew every detail of the fragrance’s production, continued to fulfill orders, ingeniously concealing bottles within hand-cut books during wartime shipments.
Now meticulously restored, Eight & Bob continues as one of the world’s most distinguished fragrances, crafted with the same attention to detail that made the original so exceptional.
